First Caisson Successfully Transported off Shore for Phase I of SDIC Meizhou Bay Coal Terminal Project Being Built by CCCC-FHEC
The first caisson ready to be used for Phase I of SDIC’s Meizhou Bay Coal Terminal, which is the largest coal terminal being built by No.5 Eng. Co. of CCCC-FHEC in Haixi Region, was transported off shore, which indicates that the use of air bag in transporting caissons is successful.
Phase I of SDIC Meizhou Bay Coal Terminal is designed to include a 7000 dwt berth and a 100000 dwt berth for discharging coal ships, stacking yards, and a railway system and affiliated facilities. The coal unloading berths totals 588m long and 33m wide with a designed yearly coal unloading capacity of 15 million ton. Twenty large rectangular caissons weighing from 3700 tons to 4000 tons need to be prefabricated, which will be used as gravity piers to support the jetty.
This project will, upon completion, play a positive role in enhancing the transportation infrastructure of Fujian Province, improving coal transportation situation in the southeast coastal areas and coal supply for Fujian Province and Jiangxi Province. (Zhao Li)
