A ceremony was held to commence the construction of Phase I of Training Works for the Deep Water Waterways in the Downstream Changjiang River from Nanjing on August 28, 2012. CCCC-FHEC was awarded to construct the training works constituting the second contract package of the project.

Present at the commencement ceremony were Ma Kai, State Councilor and Secretary-General of State Council, and Li Shenglin, Minister of Transportation and Head of Steering Committte for Training Works for the Deep Water Waterways in the Downstream Changjiang River from Nanjing. Ma Kai announced the commencement of the project while Li Shenglin made a speech at the ceremony.

Among those invited to attend the commencement ceremony were Liu Qitao, President of China Communications Construction Company Limited, Wu Yongtao, Board Chairman of CCCC-FHEC, Wu Like, Deputy General Manager of CCCC-FHEC, and Mi Xiaochen, Deputy General Manager of CCCC-FHEC.

Among those attending the commencement ceremony were also high ranking officials of Jiangsu Provincial Government and relevant departments of the State Council.

Li Shenglin requested those contractors who were awarded to undertake and execute the project to attach great importance to the engineering quality, safety management, scientific and technological innovation, and prevention and control corruption risks.()
