Commencement of CCCC ECRL PROJECT

The ceremony for commencing Malaysia’s East Coast Rail Line Project (named as ”the PROJECT” for short) undertaken by China Communications Construction Company (named as “CCCC” for short) was held in Kuantan, Malaysia on August 9, 2017. The Large-scale Project with total contract amount of 55 billion Malaysian Dollars will attract extensive attention throughout Malaysia and the Southeast Asia.

Last year, Najib - Malaysia’s Prime Minister paid a state visit to China. During the meeting with Xi Jinping - China’s President, they reached a series of significant consensus. With the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative, the two countries decided to work with joint efforts to build Malaysia’s East Coast Rail Line Project.

Najib stated it was one of Malaysia’s development priorities to further improve transportation in the East Region, in order to have a more balanced development across the country. The project when accomplished will bring more benefits to millions of Malaysian people and boost economic development in the East Coast Region. He then extended sincere gratitude to CCCC and the government of China for their precious investment.

Liu Qitao emphasized that CCCC put the Project as one of the priorities, and the highest-quality resources had been and would be allocated to the Project. In order to build a technologically advanced and eco-friendly high-standard railway, the whole execution staff will carry out scientific management, ensure good quality & safety and accomplish excellent and satisfactory works, thus contributing to the economic and social progress of Malaysia. CCCC will also shoulder its social responsibilities, creating more jobs and training more Malaysian people to become professionals in railway building and operation.

The First Habor Engineering Company of CCCC is in charge of executing the section 3 of the Project. CCCC organized a meeting after the ceremony to make key deployment of the following tasks. At the meeting, Mao Yuanping pledged that the First Habor Engineering Company of CCCC would do its best to accomplish the works in an excellent manner and would endeavor to make more breakthroughs regarding project management, technological innovation and other key aspects. Advanced technology, good-quality equipment, professional execution team and adequate capital can ensure a successful implementation of the project.

The commencement ceremony was addressed by Najib - Prime Minister of Malaysia and Wang Yong - State Councilor of China and attended by Xiao Yaqing - Director of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, Zhang Ming - Vice Foreign Minister, Huang Huikang - China’s ambassador to Malaysia, Su Quanli – Deputy Chief of China’s State Railway Bureau, Yuan Xingyong – Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of China. Liu Qitao – Board Chairman of CCCC, Sun Ziyu – Vice President of CCCC, and Mao Yuanping - Board Chairman of the First Harbor Engineering Company of CCCC. (Zhao Li)
